FEMA Recovery Efforts Continue on the Island with the Obligation of Over $18.7 Million in Additional Funds
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA and the Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience, or COR3, have obligated an additional $18.7 million in funds for 146 projects related to the recovery and reconstruction of Puerto Rico. These funds were obligated between March 7 and March 19.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic: Public Assistance Simplified Application
This Fact Sheet supplements Fact Sheet: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Emergency Protective Measures and provides an overview of the FEMA Public Assistance application process for recipients and applicants requesting reimbursement related to federal emergency and major disaster declarations for Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). FEMA is simplifying the Public Assistance application and funding process to address the magnitude of this event and allow local officials to receive eligible funding more quickly.

WASHINGTON — FEMA announced that federal emergency aid has been made available for the state of California to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic beginning on January 20, 2020, and continuing.
The President's action makes federal funding available for Crisis Counseling for affected individuals in all areas of the state of California.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response: Tribal Recipients
Based on the President’s national emergency declaration for the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on March 13, 2020, tribal governments may be a Recipient or Subrecipient for FEMA Public Assistance. The following guidance supports questions related to the tribal recipient/subrecipient assistance process pursuant to the nationwide COVID-19 emergency.
State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Lebanon
NASHVILLE – The State of Tennessee and FEMA have opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Lebanon.
Disaster recovery centers offer in-person support to individuals and businesses affected by the March 3 severe storms and tornadoes. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state and other interests are at the center to talk about available assistance and provide referrals to help with recovery.

Use of Defense Production Act Authorities to Support the Pandemic Response
The Defense Production Act (DPA) of 1950, as amended (50 U.S.C. 4501 et seq.) is the primary source of presidential authorities to expedite and expand the critical supplies and services from the private sector that are needed to promote national defense. This includes both emergency preparedness and response activities conducted pursuant to title VI of The Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act as well as for the protection and restoration of critical infrastructure operations.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides financial assistance to states, territories, tribes, local governments, nonprofits, institutions of higher education, and other non-Federal entities. All FEMA grant programs are subject to the Federal procurement standards found at 2 C.F.R. §§ 200.317 – 200.326. Public Assistance: Non-Congregate Sheltering Delegation of Authority
Under President Trump’s March 13, 2020, national emergency declaration for the
coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, FEMA’s Regional Administrators have been delegated
authority to approve requests for non-congregate sheltering for the duration of the
Secretary of Health and Human Services’ declaration of a Public Health Emergency for
COVID-19.
Proposed Flood Map Reflects Changes to Local Flood Risk, Insurance Rates - 90-Day Appeal Period for Filing Appeals and Comments Begins March 26, 2020
DENVER — Turner County flood insurance rate map update is nearing completion. The new maps will provide Turner County with more accurate flood risk information that can help local officials and residents make informed decisions about reducing flood risks and purchasing flood insurance.
The mapping project is part of a nationwide effort led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to increase local knowledge of flood risks and support actions to address and reduce those risks.
FEMA Help Available Online, by Phone, by Smartphone App, as Well as In Person
NASHVILLE – Homeowners and renters in Davidson, Putnam and Wilson counties with losses from the recent tornadoes and storms can contact FEMA in many ways.
Survivors can apply online for disaster assistance, such as grants to help pay for temporary housing and home repairs, by creating an account at DisasterAssistance.gov or downloading the FEMA App for smartphones.
Renters Can Apply for FEMA Assistance
NASHVILLE – Renters in Davidson, Putnam and Wilson counties whose homes and property were damaged by the tornadoes and severe storms March 3 can apply for federal disaster assistance.
FEMA Individual Assistance is available to renters, including students, as well as homeowners. Federal grants can help pay for temporary housing. The initial rental grant is for a 60-day period and can be reviewed for further assistance. The deadline to register for federal aid is May 4, 2020.

FEMA Urges Survivors to Guard Against Identity Theft
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – FEMA is aware of several cases of reported identity theft involving survivors of the severe storms and tornadoes in Tennessee March 3. The agency is cooperating in the investigation.
Disaster survivors who tried to register with FEMA discovered someone had already registered using their name.
After a disaster, fraud can be a problem. Scammers may contact survivors who have not registered with FEMA and try to extract money or information. When this happens, it is likely the survivor’s personal data has been compromised.
