WASHINGTON—Today, FEMA announced that Acting Administrator Pete Gaynor has appointed 15 members to FEMA’s National Advisory Council (NAC).

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA has awarded roughly $29.4 million in additional funds to Puerto Rico to cover costs related to Hurricane María.

These awards bring the amount of funds obligated under FEMA’s Public Assistance program to $5.9 billion.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $ 4,101,135 for the State of Florida to help the South Florida Water Management District defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the 16-county water district for the collection, reduction and disposal of debris throughout its service area between Sept. 18 and Oct. 17, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, contractors gathered 13,303 cubic yards of vegetative debris from canals for disposal.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $2,472,046 for the State of Florida to help the City of Naples defray the costs of responding to Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the City of Naples for overtime for first responders and city employees and for emergency measures enacted between Sept. 4 and Oct. 3, 2017. During that time period, an emergency operations center was set up and staffed, and steps were taken to protect public safety and to maintain city public works.

AUSTIN, Texas – Joint state/federal Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) will be opening Wednesday, October 16 at New Caney in Montgomery County and Thursday, October 17 at Liberty in Liberty County to help disaster survivors affected by Tropical Storm Imelda.

WASHINGTON -- "Today, FEMA granted Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced’s request for an extension to fixed cost estimates under the Section 428 Alternative Procedures for permanent work caused by Hurricane Maria. BATON ROUGE, La. — At the request of the state of Louisiana, Cameron and St. Landry parishes have been added to the August 27 major disaster declaration for preparations and damages related to Hurricane Barry. Two other parishes, Pointe Coupee and St. Martin parishes are now eligible for permanent work. These two parishes were previously designated for emergency work only.
