WASHINGTON -- FEMA announced that federal emergency aid has been made available to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to supplement Commonwealth and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions in the area affected by Typhoon Hagibis beginning on Oct. 7 and continuing.

FEMA Region IV Welcomes New Youth Preparedness Council Members

ATLANTA –New members of the 2019-2020 regional Youth Preparedness Council, a group of 13 high schoolers committed to improving the preparedness and resilience of their communities in the event of an emergency, were announced today by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Atlanta.

Members were selected based on their community involvement, public service and potential to impact youth preparedness.

You’ll Need Your Insurance Information When You Register with FEMA

JACKSON, Miss. – If you suffered damage or loss from Mississippi’s storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding, Feb. 22 - March 29, and have not yet applied for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), you should file a claim with your homeowners insurance company and your flood insurance carrier — but register with FEMA right away.

President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Texas

WASHINGTON – FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Texas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Tropical Storm Imelda beginning on Sept. 17 -23, 2019.

The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Chambers, Harris, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery, and Orange counties.

Safeguard Your Future with Flood Insurance

Tropical Storm Imelda caused extensive damage in Texas last month. Fortunately, many Texans had flood insurance to help them recover from the storm.

So far, about 10,000 flood insurance claims related to tropical Storm Imelda have been made in Texas, and about $45 million paid in advance claims.

You need flood insurance for your business too

AUSTIN, Texas – Like everyone else, business owners need to prepare for potential disasters, and buying a policy from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is a great place to begin those preparations.

Business owners can purchase up to $500,000 in coverage for buildings and up to $500,000 for business content coverage through the NFIP. Direct physical damage to a building, such as foundations, pumping systems and water heaters, or contents, such as furniture and fixtures, from a flood is covered by the policy.

FEMA Awards Coral Springs Nearly $6 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $5,912,323 for the State of Florida to help the City of Coral Springs defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the collection, reduction, and disposal of debris throughout the City of Coral Springs between Sept. 18 and Dec. 16, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, city workers and contractors gathered and hauled away 240,046 cubic yards of vegetative debris from roads and public property for landfill disposal.

Five Parishes Added to Louisiana Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance Following Hurricane Barry

South Texans who qualify for continued temporary housing assistance can meet with FEMA Oct. 2-4 at applicant service center

AUSTIN, Texas – Texans in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties affected by the June severe storms and flooding who are eligible for Continued Temporary Housing Assistance (CTHA) can meet with FEMA staff in La Feria Oct. 2-4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FEMA will assist survivors who are eligible for CTHA with the application process. Survivors should complete the application and provide supporting documentation showing a financial need for additional assistance. The application can be submitted at the service center.
