Understanding FEMA Determination Letters and How to Appeal
AUSTIN, TX – Survivors who registered with FEMA for disaster assistance because they were affected by Tropical Storm Imelda will receive a determination letter explaining the eligibility decision and the reason for that decision. If approved, it will state the dollar amount of the grant and how the funds should be used and when ineligible, the letter explains why and how the applicant can appeal that decision.

Oakland, CA — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is updating flood maps in Yavapai County, AZ in 2020. New maps will help identify the latest flood hazards, assess flood risks, and provide accurate data to guide local stakeholders in taking effective mitigation actions that result in safer and more resilient communities.
Mexico Beach Approved for an Additional $3.3 Million for Debris Removal Costs
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FEMA has approved an additional $3,317,098 for the state of Florida to reimburse Mexico Beach for debris removal costs following Hurricane Michael.
Disaster-generated debris posed a threat to public health, safety, natural resources and tourism. Grant funds cover the cost of emergency debris cleanup activities from Oct. 24 through Nov. 2, 2018.
FACT SHEET: Damaged Wells and Septic Systems May be Eligible for FEMA Assistance
Texas residents in disaster-declared counties whose wells or septic systems were damaged by Tropical Storm Imelda, may be eligible for financial help from FEMA. Septic systems and wells are generally not covered by flood insurance.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $1,278,662 for the State of Florida to help Monroe County defray the costs of responding to Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

Flooding from the Sept. 19 tropical storm resulted in more than 10,600 flood insurance claims being filed by Texas homeowners, business owners and renters. As of Oct. 29, policyholders have been paid 40 percent of claims or more than $280 million to repair their homes.

Texans Paid Over $280 Million in Flood Insurance Claims
AUSTIN, Texas –The National Flood Insurance Program has paid over $280 million to Texas policyholders six weeks after Tropical Storm Imelda impacted the state. Of that, nearly $82 million are from advance payments on flood insurance claims. Advance payments can be dispersed in as little as five days to help kick-start recovery.
