Additional Local Hires Join FEMA’s Tennessee Workforce

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – FEMA’s local hire effort for disaster recovery activities in Tennessee, following storms in February and March of this year, added seven new employees this week.

Federal Coordinating Officer Manny J. Toro gave the new local hires their oath of office Monday morning (July 22), and said, “These individuals will help the State of Tennessee and their fellow Tennesseans recover from storms and floods which hit 59 counties earlier this year. This effort is something that FEMA regularly does to support a robust recovery effort.”

$1.8 Million Announced for N.C. Department of Transportation

DURHAM, N.C. – FEMA and the state of North Carolina have announced more than $1.8 million to help the North Carolina Department of Transportation cover Hurricane Florence-related expenses.

Funds will reimburse the department for emergency response and protective measures during the 2018 storm. The measures included temporary vehicle equipment relocation, directing traffic flow and providing emergency access for Brunswick, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender and Sampson counties.

DENVER – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the North Hills Fire in Lewis and Clark County, Montana.

FEMA Region VIII Administrator Lee K. dePalo approved the state’s request for a federal Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) after receiving the state’s request early Sunday morning.
