FEMA and COR3 Obligate Over $44 Million to the University of Puerto Rico

Attend an Open House and Learn about Flood Risks in Your Community

ATLANTA - Residents and property owners in coastal areas of Charlotte County can view new draft preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) at three upcoming public open houses on Dec. 11-12.

FIRMs show the potential extent and risks of flooding. They will be used to determine flood insurance premiums and building requirements.

FEMA Offers Free Rebuilding Tips at Local Home Improvement Stores

AUSTIN, Texas – Disaster survivors affected by the severe storms and floods from Tropical Storm Imelda, can visit local home improvement stores in Cypress, Houston, Pasadena and Orange from Monday, Dec. 2, to Saturday, Dec. 7, for rebuilding tips from mitigation experts. Mitigation specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be on hand to answer questions about home repair, making disaster plans, putting together supply kits and the importance of flood insurance.

State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Yankton

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The State of South Dakota and FEMA have opened a disaster recovery center in Yankton to offer face-to-face support to individuals and businesses impacted by the tornadoes, severe storms and flooding from September 9-26.  This follows the center previously opened in Madison; additional locations around the state will be announced later.  The center is located at:

FEMA Awards Osceola County More Than $1.5 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

FEMA Awards Florida Division of Emergency Management More Than $4.4 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $4,429,872 for the State of Florida to help the Florida Division of Emergency Management defray administrative costs associated with Hurricane Irma recovery under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the Florida Division of Emergency Management for administrative costs related to managing FEMA PA programs and projects. This amount is five percent of the total dollar value of all eligible project costs prior to insurance and cost share reductions.

FEMA Awards Lee County Nearly $11.8 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $11,774,472 for the State of Florida to help Lee County defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse Lee County for the collection, reduction and disposal of debris between Sept. 18 and Oct. 17, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, county workers and contractors gathered and hauled away 549,538 cubic yards of vegetative, construction and demolition debris from roads and public property for landfill disposal.
