Public Invited to Appeal or Comment on Flood Maps in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana
Denton, Texas– New revised preliminary flood risk information and updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) are available for review by residents and business owners in Plaquemines Parish. Officials encourage property owners to review the latest information to learn about local flood risks and potential future flood insurance requirements. Community stakeholders can identify any concerns or questions about the information provided and participate in appeal and comment periods for the maps.
Okfuskee County Added to Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance Funding
OKLAHOMA CITY – Okfuskee County has been added to the federal disaster declaration issued for Oklahoma on July 12 for the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding that occurred April 30 to May 1. Okfuskee is now eligible to apply for FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) funding to supplement state and local recovery efforts.
Group Flood Insurance Policies Issued for June 2016 Flood Expire August 24, 2019 ‒ Purchase Standard Flood Insurance Now
PHILADELPHIA – Over 500 West Virginia citizens were provided three-year Group Flood Insurance Policy (GFIP) certificates as part of their federal aid package following the June 2016 flooding disaster. These certificates will expire on August 24, 2019.
Fulton rebuilding fishing pier, convention center destroyed by Hurricane Harvey
AUSTIN, Texas — The Town of Fulton will begin rebuilding the 1,200-foot Fulton Fishing Pier this Saturday alongside the new Fulton Convention Center—Paws and Taws Building, which workers began erecting late last month. The two structures’ reopening, slated for January, will mark a milestone in the recovery of a town devastated by Hurricane Harvey two years ago.

WASHINGTON — Today, FEMA announced $10 million in competitive awards for its Fiscal Year 2019 Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant Program to eight local governments to assist in developing innovative regional solutions to issues related to catastrophic incidents.
The grant program plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Free hazard mitigation consultations are available from FEMA representatives by visiting local home improvement stores in Garland, Independence, Mississippi and Washington counties.
Mitigation advisers will be on hand at Home Depot in Fayetteville and Batesville, and Lowe’s in Hot Springs and Blytheville to answer questions about mitigation activities and protecting homes from future disaster-related damage. Topics will include flood insurance and elevating utilities, with most of the information geared toward do-it-yourself work and general contractors.

Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Dawson County
Lincoln, NE – The State of Nebraska and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Dawson County.
