PIERRE, S.D. – Some South Dakotans who apply for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency may be referred to the U.S. Small Business Administration and asked to fill out a low-interest disaster loan application. It is important to complete the SBA disaster loan application prior to the deadline.

The recovery work being done after the Camp Fire is enormous. It is also very complicated since devastation on this scale has never before happened in the State of California. These complications, in turn, create misconceptions that are sometimes spread via social and news media making it difficult to separate myth from fact. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A FEMA disaster recovery center will open Saturday, July 27, in Buchanan County to provide one-on-one assistance to Missourians affected by recent flooding, severe storms and tornadoes.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.

WASHINGTON – Today, FEMA announced its decision to reinstate the manual drawdown process for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico as an additional step to protect the federal investment.  Effective immediately, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico must receive approval from the agency to drawdown grant funds for Hurricanes Irma and Maria recovery.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FEMA has approved $2,055,271 to the State of Florida to assist 22 eligible applicants with reimbursement for eligible costs of debris removal, emergency protective measures, management costs and permanent repairs for Hurricane Michael under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missourians who have registered with FEMA may be eligible for reimbursement if they paid out-of-pocket expenses for temporary lodging because of damage to their primary residences from recent flooding, severe storms and tornadoes.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 is a day thousands of California residents will never forget. It’s the day three separate wildfires ignited in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Less than a week later, President Trump signed a disaster declaration, providing for federal assistance to California for what became the most deadly fire in the state’s history.

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma residents who suffered damage from the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred May 7 to June 9 now have more time to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The new registration deadline is Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Holt County is one of 20 Missouri counties designated as eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program after the April 29 to July 5 flooding.

Standard homeowners’ policies do not cover flood damage. Without flood insurance, it may be too expensive for homeowners to repair or rebuild.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Residents of Muscatine County who sustained damage during the March 12–June 15 severe storms and flooding may not know what happens after they register for disaster assistance with FEMA.

Applicants with disaster losses are assigned a registration identification number for future reference in identifying their case. In most cases, a FEMA-contracted inspector will call to make an appointment to visit the damaged property and assess the loss.

The following are points to remember during inspections:

WASHINGTON - FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019.

The nationwide test will be sent to radio and television stations beginning at 2:20 p.m. EDT.

DURHAM, N.C. – FEMA and the state of North Carolina are announcing more than $2.3 million to reimburse Carteret County for debris cleanup activities following Hurricane Florence.

FEMA has already approved more than $12.2 million for Carteret County Hurricane Florence-related expenses. This brings the total to $14.5 million.
