WASHINGTON — FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of  Arkansas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes on March 28, 2020.

Federal funding also is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes in Craighead County.

This obligation includes 50 projects for emergency work and permanent work

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA has obligated nearly $5.4 million in funds for emergency measures and permanent work projects to repair hospitals and healthcare facilities managed by the Puerto Rico Administration of Mental Health and Anti-Addiction Services, known as ASSMCA, by its Spanish acronym.

WASHINGTON -- The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continues, as PPE donations from the Republic of Korea and Turkey are distributed to hardest-hit areas throughout the country.

DENTON, Texas – In conjunction with U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services and the state of Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today, the seven federally supported COVID-19 Community-Based Testing Sites (CBTS) in Texas will remain open through June 30, 2020. The sites will continue monitoring and testing citizens in an effort to reduce further spreading of the virus.

DENVER – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced $14.7 million in additional funding for COVID-19 response efforts in Colorado. The assistance was made available under the major disaster declaration issued March 28 by President Trump.

The funding is being provided to the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for contract costs to healthcare staffing companies for supplemental personnel to support medical facilities around the state for the time period of April 1 to June 30.

NASHVILLE – Applying for federal disaster assistance from FEMA will not affect other federal benefits that Tennessee disaster survivors may receive.

Residents in Bradley and Hamilton counties who register with FEMA may have questions about whether funds from FEMA might cause them to lose other federal payments to which they are entitled.

CHICAGO – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released $2,926,153 in Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) funds to the Village of Spencer, for the construction of a safe room at the Village of Spencer High School.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina families and households in Barnwell and Berkeley counties who suffered damage as a result of the April 13 storms may be eligible for federal disaster assistance.

FEMA help for disaster survivors in Aiken, Colleton, Hampton, Marlboro, Oconee, Orangeburg and Pickens counties was designated May 1.

WASHINGTON -- The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continue, as frontline responders and medical staffs are honored -- from Oregon to New Mexico.
National Guardsmen continued their steady support, with food distribution in North Carolina, while FEMA coordinates more Project Airbridge flights for critical medical supplies distribution.

As of May 12, Project Airbridge has completed 132 flights with more than 30 flights scheduled or in transit.  Two flights landed Monday in Chicago, with another flight scheduled for today.

To address immediate and projected needs from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments may, under certain conditions, be reimbursed through FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Program for costs associated with keeping Alternate Care Sites (ACS), including temporary and expanded medical facilities, minimally operational when COVID- 19 cases diminish and the facilities are no longer in use.

PONCE, Puerto Rico –In the aftermath of a May 2 aftershock that damaged buildings and displaced dozens of residents, FEMA has reopened the incident period for the ongoing earthquake disaster in Puerto Rico.

The action means that people and structures affected by the recent seismic activity may be eligible for FEMA disaster assistance.

NASHVILLE – A public notice is now available that addresses the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) intention to reimburse eligible applicants for costs to repair or replace facilities damaged by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding in Tennessee on April 12-13, 2020 under disaster declaration DR-4541-TN.

ATLANTA – Tennessee will receive $5.7 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to assist nonprofits that are helping residents who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.  The money allocated to Tennessee combines the EFSP’s annual funding with funds designated for food and shelter support under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

ATLANTA – South Carolina will receive $3.5 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to assist nonprofits that are helping residents who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.  The money allocated to South Carolina combines the EFSP’s annual funding with funds designated for food and shelter support under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

ATLANTA – North Carolina will receive $9.3 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to assist nonprofits that are helping residents who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.  The money allocated to North Carolina combines the EFSP’s annual funding with funds designated for food and shelter support under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

ATLANTA – Mississippi will receive $3.6 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to assist nonprofits that are helping residents who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.  The money allocated to Mississippi combines the EFSP’s annual funding with funds designated for food and shelter support under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

Thirteen of the obligations are grants of over $1 million each

Canton, Miss.-  Individuals and households in Clarke, Grenada, Jasper, Lawrence, Panola and Walthall counties in Mississippi may now apply for federal disaster assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program for uninsured damages and losses as a result of the severe storms, tornados, straight-line winds, and flooding on April 12, 2020.
