GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA obligated over $1 million to repair sirens that help disseminate key information across long distances during an emergency. These systems produce alerts in case of flash floods, rivers exceeding their embankments and wildfires. As hurricane season gets underway, repairing and updating these warning systems in 17 municipalities is part of the island’s ongoing recovery efforts.

The deadline to apply is July 2.

Maybe they have not applied to FEMA because they have insurance.  But federal disaster assistance may pay for damage that their insurance did not cover. Advise them to go ahead and apply.

WASHINGTON -- Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that an emergency exists in the State of Louisiana and ordered federal assistance to supplement state, tribal, and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Cristobal beginning on June 5, 2020, and continuing.

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved nearly $14 million to reimburse the State of California for damage to the Paradise Unified School District caused by the 2018 Camp Fire.

WASHINGTON –Today, FEMA announced the 2020–2021 Youth Preparedness Council members. FEMA selected seven new members to join the eight returning council members based on their dedication to public service, community involvement and potential to expand their impact as national supporters for youth preparedness.

FEMA created the council in 2012 to bring together young leaders from across the country who are interested in supporting disaster preparedness nationally and locally. Fifteen members from grades eight through 11 make up the council.
