ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $5,912,323 for the State of Florida to help the City of Coral Springs defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the collection, reduction, and disposal of debris throughout the City of Coral Springs between Sept. 18 and Dec. 16, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, city workers and contractors gathered and hauled away 240,046 cubic yards of vegetative debris from roads and public property for landfill disposal.

BATON ROUGE, La. — At the request of the state of Louisiana, Lafayette, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard and St. Martin parishes have been added to the August 27 major disaster declaration for preparations and damages related to Hurricane Barry.

AUSTIN, Texas – Texans in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties affected by the June severe storms and flooding who are eligible for Continued Temporary Housing Assistance (CTHA) can meet with FEMA staff in La Feria Oct. 2-4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

FEMA will assist survivors who are eligible for CTHA with the application process. Survivors should complete the application and provide supporting documentation showing a financial need for additional assistance. The application can be submitted at the service center.

Oakland, CA — North Los Angeles County (L.A. County) is updating its Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for 2020. Flood risk changes over time due to new building and development, weather patterns, levee classifications, and more. New FIRMs provide up-to-date flood risk information and tools that can be used to enhance local mitigation plans, and help local officials and residents make informed decisions about reducing flood risks and purchasing flood insurance. When new FIRMs are issued, changes in flood risk may require the mandatory purchase of flood insurance.

ORLANDO, Fla. – At the request of Governor Ron DeSantis, President Donald Trump has approved a federal cost-share increase for Hurricane Irma recovery projects funded by FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program from 75 percent to 90 percent.

$3.7 Million Approved for New Hanover County Debris Removal

Following is a summary of key federal disaster aid programs that can be made available as needed and warranted under President Donald J. Trump's disaster declaration issued for the state of South Carolina.

Assistance for State and Affected Local Governments Can Include as Required:

WASHINGTON – FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of South Carolina to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Dorian beginning on August 31 to September 6, 2019.

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – As Puerto Rico continues to recover from hurricanes Irma and María, FEMA and the Commonwealth have agreed to approve a second extension for assistance under the agency’s Individual and Households program through Nov. 30, 2019.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FEMA has approved $4,060,461 for the state of Florida to assist the School Board of Bay County with reimbursement for the costs of temporary facilities following Hurricane Michael under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded nearly $2 million to the city of Galveston through the Texas Division of Emergency Management to fund Phase I of a new storm drain system located between 14th and 18th streets. The funds will help cover costs for permitting, engineering, design, environmental assessment and construction engineering services toward the development of this project.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FEMA has approved $1,766,258 for the state of Florida to assist the city of Callaway with reimbursement for the costs of debris removal following Hurricane Michael under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the collection, reduction, disposal and site management of debris within Callaway following the October 2018 storm.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has approved nearly $37 million in claims to Oklahomans for damages from the severe storms and flooding that took place this spring.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jackson Health System will receive more than $2.4 million in federal grant money to install an emergency generator system and impact resistant windows to strengthen the Jackson Memorial Long-Term Care Center in Miami against future severe wind events.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Town of Palm Beach will receive a nearly $8.5 million federal grant to remove utility poles and bury overhead electrical lines, reducing the effects of future severe wind events.

ORLANDO, Fla. – More than two years after Hurricane Irma devastated the Sunshine State, federal, state, local and non-profit partners continue to move Florida’s recovery forward. To date, more than
$5 billion in federal funds have been provided for recovery efforts.

JACKSON, Miss. – FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers will open Friday, September 27, in Warren and Lowndes counties to provide one-on-one assistance to Mississippians affected by the storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding which occurred from February 22 to March 29, 2019.

Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration and other state, federal and volunteer agencies will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – All Community Recovery Centers will reopen Thursday, September 26, 2019 and will resume their regular hours of operation.
