Oklahoma City, OK – Four more state/federal Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRCs) are opening in Oklahoma, in the cities of Pryor (Mayes County), Avant (Osage County), Jay (Delaware County) and Claremore (Rogers County).

Disaster Unemployment Assistance Available to Those Who Qualify
PIERRE, S.D. – Farmers and ranchers, employees and self-employed individuals in 16 counties and reservations across South Dakota who are unable to work as a result of the severe winter storms and flooding from mid-March to late April may be eligible for disaster unemployment. Funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the U.S. Department of Labor, Disaster Unemployment Assistance is administered locally.

City of Norfolk, Virginia Saves over $1 million a Year in Flood Insurance Premiums
PHILADELPHIA – Residents of the City of Norfolk, Virginia have received a reduction in their flood insurance premiums through an increase of various floodplain management measures encouraged by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Disasters can create chaos and confusion. If you aren’t prepared when an emergency happens, you’ll be forced to make decisions in circumstances that could further compromise your safety. It doesn’t matter if it’s extreme heat, power shutdowns or wildfires; the more prepared you are the better. Having a well-rehearsed disaster plan can protect you, your loved ones…your pets. Both FEMA and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) have tools to help.
Proper Permits Needed Before Rebuilding
Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahomans affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between May 7 and June 9 are advised to get proper permits when rebuilding their damaged property.
Every part of a building — from roofs, walls and siding to plumbing, septic systems and heating/air conditioning systems — may require a permit before rebuilding. A permit may also be needed for demolition.
Additional $3 Million Approved for New Hanover County
DURHAM, N.C. – FEMA and the state of North Carolina are announcing $3 million to reimburse New Hanover County for debris cleanup activities following Hurricane Florence.
FEMA has already approved more than $10.5 million for New Hanover County Hurricane Florence-related expenses. This brings the total to $13.5 million.
Disaster generated debris posed a threat to public health, safety, natural resources and tourism. Funds for this project will reimburse the county for contracted debris monitoring services.
Iowa Farmers and Ranchers Have Options for Disaster Assistance
DES MOINES, Iowa – When disasters such as the March 12 through June 15 storms and floods strike, Iowa farmers and ranchers have options for help.
Farmers and ranchers affected by the storms and floods in Fremont, Harrison, Louisa, Mills, Monona, Pottawattamie, Scott, Shelby and Woodbury counties may be eligible for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with some immediate needs including:

FEMA Inspectors, Teams Canvas 27 Oklahoma Counties
Oklahoma City, OK – Housing inspectors and Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have hit the streets in 27 Oklahoma counties to help disaster survivors get connected with potential assistance.
New Hours for Three Oklahoma Disaster Recovery Centers
Oklahoma City, OK – The joint state/federal Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Muskogee, Tulsa and Wagoner counties will change their hours of operation starting on Wednesday, June 26.
The new hours are Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 1-5 p.m. until further notice. The centers are at the following locations:

One Week Left to Deadline
DES MOINES, Iowa – Straggler (noun): one who waits to register with FEMA until the deadline is only days away; specifically, one who suffered losses during the March 12 to June16 storms and flooding, lives in one of the nine designated counties, and could be eligible for federal disaster assistance.
Don’t be a straggler! Monday, July 1 is the deadline to apply for federal disaster assistance from FEMA or for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Puerto Rico is Home to FEMA’s New Consolidated Resource Center
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – The Government of Puerto Rico, the Central Office of Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience, or COR3, and FEMA have established a Consolidated Resource Center on the island to help move recovery forward.
