FEMA has provided more than $13 million in funding to help northwest Missourians recover from flooding and severe storms.
FEMA Awards City of Jacksonville Nearly $4.1 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses
Orlando, Fla. – FEMA has approved $4,099,091 for the State of Florida to help the City of Jacksonville defray the costs of responding to Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.
FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the cost of overtime worked by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department before, during and after Irma struck the city. The 1,400-member department logged nearly 43,000 hours of overtime between Sept. 4 and Oct. 3, 2017.
FEMA Awards City of Ocala More Than $1.6 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses
ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $1,606,214 for the State of Florida to help the City of Ocala defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.
FEMA funds will reimburse the city for the collection, reduction, disposal and site management of debris within Ocala between Sept. 18 and Oct. 17, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, the city’s contractor gathered, hauled away and disposed of 91,771 cubic yards of vegetative debris from public rights of way.

Additional Local Hires Join FEMA’s Tennessee Workforce
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – FEMA’s local hire effort for disaster recovery activities in Tennessee, following storms in February and March of this year, added seven new employees this week.
Federal Coordinating Officer Manny J. Toro gave the new local hires their oath of office Monday morning (July 22), and said, “These individuals will help the State of Tennessee and their fellow Tennesseans recover from storms and floods which hit 59 counties earlier this year. This effort is something that FEMA regularly does to support a robust recovery effort.”
$1.8 Million Announced for N.C. Department of Transportation
$1.8 Million Announced for N.C. Department of Transportation
DURHAM, N.C. – FEMA and the state of North Carolina have announced more than $1.8 million to help the North Carolina Department of Transportation cover Hurricane Florence-related expenses.
Funds will reimburse the department for emergency response and protective measures during the 2018 storm. The measures included temporary vehicle equipment relocation, directing traffic flow and providing emergency access for Brunswick, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender and Sampson counties.
