FEMA Works With U.S. Small Business Administration to Assist Missouri Residents

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri residents may receive disaster assistance from both FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

 

After registering with FEMA, most residents are automatically referred to SBA to be considered for low-interest disaster loans. SBA’s disaster loans are the largest source of long-term federal disaster recovery funds to residents, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations.

Crisis Counseling Available for South Dakotans

PIERRE, S.D. – Crisis counseling is available to help South Dakotans in areas impacted by the flooding this year.

A $320,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to the State of South Dakota is funding the crisis counseling effort. Residents who are experiencing stress as a result of the disaster can call 800-691-4336 24 hours a day. The hotline will connect them with specialists who can offer stress relief and behavioral health counseling.

Arkansas/FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers to Close in Pulaski and Sebastian Counties

Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansas/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in North Little Rock (Pulaski County) and the DRC in Ft. Smith (Sebastian County) is scheduled to close on Saturday, August 3 at 1 p.m.

FEMA Teams in Savannah August 1-6 to Share Repair, Rebuilding Advice

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – FEMA’s mitigation experts are visiting Savannah in Andrew County August 1-6 to offer home-improvement tips on rebuilding better and stronger after this year’s severe storms in Missouri.

 

The team will also share proven methods to prevent or reduce damage from a disaster. Most of the information and free publications are aimed at general contractors and those willing to take on do-it-yourself projects.

Humphreys and Holmes Counties Eligible for Federal Disaster Assistance

ATLANTA – Two Mississippi counties are now eligible to receive federal disaster funding to supplement state and local recovery from storms that occurred earlier this year. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has added Humphreys County to the federal designation in response to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that affected the state Feb. 22-24. Holmes County was approved in response to severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 13-14.

Cleanup Assistance Hotline Established to Help South Dakotans

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters has created a Cleanup Assistance Hotline to assist South Dakotans with cleanup or debris removal as a result of the winter storm and flooding this year.

The phone number is 605-519-5413. The hotline will operate through Aug. 9.

The hotline is staffed by volunteers. Callers should leave their phone numbers for a call back by volunteers.

FEMA Awards Florida Division of Emergency Management More Than $3.4 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses

Orlando, Fla. – The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) will receive a $3,423,855 grant to help defray the costs of responding to Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse the state for the costs of contracting to provide such services as base camps, temporary staffing, supplies, and other items needed for performing emergency protective measures throughout the state. This funding is in addition to roughly $28 million FEMA already provided to the state for similar activities.
