President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Wisconsin

WASHINGTON – FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Wisconsin to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe winter storm and flooding from Jan. 10-12, 2020.

Federal funding is available to the state, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe winter storm and flooding in Kenosha, Milwaukee and Racine counties.

FEMA Approves Additional Funding for Earthquake Recovery in Puerto Rico

WASHINGTON - On Jan. 16, 2020, President Trump declared that a major disaster existed in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and ordered federal assistance to supplement Commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by earthquakes that began on Dec. 28, 2019. The assistance made available in January included grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Will Open in Putnam County

NASHVILLE – The State of Tennessee and FEMA will open a disaster recovery center in Cookeville at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 11.

Disaster recovery centers offer in-person support to individuals and businesses affected by the March 3 severe storms and tornadoes. Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state and other interests will be at the centers to talk about available assistance and provide referrals to help with recovery.

FEMA Mobile Registration Intake Center Opens in Davidson County

NASHVILLE – FEMA will open a mobile registration intake center in Nashville at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 10.

The center will assist survivors of the March 3 tornadoes and severe storms to register with FEMA for federal disaster assistance.

How to Appeal a FEMA Decision

Each registration is processed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis, so survivors are encouraged to read their letter very carefully and respond if they do not agree with the determination.

Ponca Tribe of Nebraska awarded over $1 million in FEMA Public Assistance Grants

Lincoln, Nebraska – The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska made history last year after being the first Tribe from the State of Nebraska to make a direct disaster declaration to the President of the United States, approved on June 17, 2019. In 2013, the Sandy Recovery and Improvement Act (P.L. 113-2) amended the Stafford Act to provide federally recognized tribes with the authority to make direct declaration requests to the President.

Government of Puerto Rico/Federal Joint Field Office Opens in Ponce

Bay County Sheriff’s Office awarded $2 million for Hurricane Michael expenses

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — FEMA has approved $2,023,745 for the state of Florida to reimburse the Bay County Sheriff’s Office for the cost of emergency protective measures taken after Hurricane Michael.

 

This grant reimburses the sheriff’s office for response and recovery efforts, such as search and rescue, traffic control and safety patrol following the October 2018 storm.

FEMA Awards City of Fargo $3.7 Million for Flood Mitigation

DENVER – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced a federal grant for the City of Fargo that will make $3.7 million available to fund the construction of a levee, floodwall, and road raise, providing permanent flood protection for the City's Waste Water Treatment Plant. The improvements will provide protection above the 500-year floodplain elevation and enable continued service to the cities of Fargo, West Fargo, Oxbow, and other surrounding communities.

FEMA Extends Direct Housing Program in Florida Panhandle

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — FEMA has announced a six-month extension of the temporary housing program through Oct. 11, 2020 in Bay, Calhoun, Gadsden, Gulf and Jackson counties. The initial 18-month program was available through April 11, 2020.
