FEMA approves $3.9 million in Hurricane Michael Public Assistance grants
PANAMA CITY, Fla. — FEMA has approved three projects totaling more than $3.9 million for the State of Florida to reimburse two local governments and one state agency for Hurricane Michael recovery work.

FEMA Awards Nearly $2 Million to Help People Cope with COVID-19-Related Stress
FEMA Region 3 has awarded nearly $2 million to help fund crisis counseling services for people struggling with mental health issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic
As of June 25, these states had received crisis counseling service grants for a total of $1,991,704:

FEMA Obligates Millions to the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works
A total of over $28 million has been awarded to DTOP to replace damaged road signs after Hurricane María across the island
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA announced today an obligation of over $9.5 million to the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works, or DTOP. These funds will be used to replace signs on 238 roads covering approximately 496 miles in the Aguadilla, Arecibo and San Juan regions.
Disaster Assistance for Earthquake Survivors Doesn’t Discriminate
Earthquakes don’t discriminate and neither does FEMA.
FEMA has a mission to ensure disaster assistance is made available to all people in the community. FEMA does not treat people differently because of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, English proficiency or economic status. That means reaching out to everyone.
Those protected classes of people are written into federal law as an equal rights statement of policy that guides FEMA’s approach to providing fully inclusive disaster recovery services.
State, FEMA Continue Working on Tennessee Recovery from April Storms
NASHVILLE – The deadline for individuals and households to apply for FEMA disaster assistance has passed, but work continues on Tennessee’s recovery from the April 12-13 tornadoes.

One Week Remaining to Apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance in Umatilla County and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation
Salem, Oregon – June 23, 2020 - The deadline to register for FEMA disaster assistance is July 2, 2020. Residents of Umatilla County and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation who sustained uninsured damage from the flooding that occurred Feb. 5-9 are encouraged to register for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It’s important to note that financial assistance from FEMA for flood loss/damage does not affect unemployment, Social Security or Medicaid benefits.
Including Your Pets in Disaster Preparedness
ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands – Pets are an important member of your household, remember to include them in your hurricane preparedness plans.
Here are some tips on disaster preparedness for pet owners:
If a pet gets lost, its tag is its ticket home. Make sure your pet’s tags are up-to-date and fastened to its collar. If possible, attach the address and/or phone number of another contact in case you can’t be reached. A waterproof pouch containing identification information can be attached to the collar.
Fact Sheet: FEMA May Help April 13 Storms Survivors with Generator Costs
- April 13 storm survivors who applied for FEMA help may receive grants for generator costs.
- The applicant’s registered dwelling must be their primary residence and located in Aiken, Barnwell, Berkeley, Colleton, Hampton, Marlboro, Oconee, Orangeburg or Pickens county.

One Week Remains to Apply for Disaster Assistance
COLUMBIA, S.C. – One week remains for South Carolina homeowners, renters and businesses to apply for federal disaster assistance if they had property damage or losses caused by the April 13 storms.
The deadline to register for assistance from FEMA and to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the
U.S. Small Business Administration is Tuesday, June 30.
To date, more than $7.5 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved for April 13 storm survivors. This includes FEMA grants and low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.

WASHINGTON – Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency response, FEMA will not conduct a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) this year.
Guánica, Guayanilla, Ponce Disaster Recovery Centers to Reopen June 22
PONCE, Puerto Rico – Disaster Recovery Centers will reopen Monday in Guánica, Guayanilla and Ponce to assist Puerto Rico residents affected by the ongoing earthquakes. FEMA expects to reopen other recovery centers.
All three centers will accommodate in-person visits by appointment and drive-thru services, where residents can have their documents scanned into their case file and returned to them. No appointments are necessary for the drive-thrus. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
