FEMA Awards L.A. Unified $2.1M to Protect Elementary School from Earthquake Damage
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $2.1 million to the Los Angeles Unified School District (L.A. Unified) to earthquake retrofit Garvanza Elementary School, making the buildings safer and less prone to major structural damage during an earthquake.
FEMA Awards Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County More Than $1.7 Million for Hurricane Irma Expenses
ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $1,722,804 for the State of Florida to help the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County defray costs resulting from Hurricane Irma.
FEMA Awards City of Pembroke Pines More Than $2.9 Million for Hurricane Irma Debris Removal
ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $2,950,894 for the State of Florida to help the City of Pembroke Pines defray the costs of removing debris after Hurricane Irma.
FEMA Public Assistance funds will reimburse the city for expenses incurred removing more than 162,000 cubic yards of debris from public roads, property and rights-of-way throughout the city after the September 2017 storm.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved a grant of $6,309,625 for the State of Florida to help the City of Marathon defray the costs of repairing roads and bridges damaged by Hurricane Irma.

11 Counties Eligible for Public Assistance after April 22-23 Storms, Flooding
CANTON, Miss. – President Donald J. Trump signed a declaration on July 10 designating 11 Mississippi counties eligible for federal disaster assistance for damage suffered in the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding that hit the state April 22-23, 2020.
Amite, Claiborne, Covington, George, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lawrence, Pike, Simpson, Smith and Wayne counties are covered under the declaration.
Menlo Park Receives $5 million FEMA Grant to Protect the City from Flooding
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted $5 million to the State of California to demolish the Chrysler Stormwater Pump Station in Menlo Park and replace it with three new pumps to protect the city against a 100-year flood event and future sea level rise.
FEMA Obligates $14 million in Additional Funding for 74 Recovery Projects
Over $600,000 of these funds are earmarked for the Puerto Rico Port Authority
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA and the Puerto Rico Central Office for Recovery, Reconstruction and Resilience, or COR3, announced the obligation of over $14 million in additional grants for 74 projects related to the recovery and reconstruction of Puerto Rico after Hurricane María. Of these funds granted between July 3 and July 9, 65 allocations will go towards permanent work projects throughout the island.
