Oklahoma City, OK – A joint state/federal Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) is opening on Saturday, June 29 at Shawnee in Pottawatomie County.

Mobile DRCs are disaster resources that allow state and local officials to maximize their reach to as many affected areas and survivors as possible. The centers offer in-person support to Oklahoma homeowners, renters and business owners who sustained damage or losses during the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between May 7 and June 9, 2019.

Oakland, Calif. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) granted $2.3 million to Sonoma Water to provide Ely Booster Station protection against a 500-year flood and 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Work will include sealing and elevating electrical equipment above the 500-year floodplain, replacing the pump motor housing structures and switchgear equipment, and anchoring equipment critical to the operation of the booster station.

Columbus, Ohio – A Disaster Recovery Center will open Wednesday, July 3 in Roseville to help renters, homeowners and businesses in Ohio affected by the tornadoes, storms and flooding of May 27 – 29, 2019.

PIERRE, SD – Disaster Recovery Centers opened by the State of South Dakota and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The centers will resume regular operations at 9 a.m. Friday, July 5.

Individuals and business owners who suffered losses in the severe winter storms and flooding in South Dakota from mid-March to late April 2019 can visit Disaster Recovery Centers to register for federal assistance and receive in-person support for their recovery needs.

Columbus, Ohio – If you’re an Ohio resident who contacted FEMA for assistance, you may have received a letter from FEMA that says you’re ineligible for housing assistance. Read your letter carefully to understand the reason for the determination.

PHILADELPHIA – The Commonwealth of Virginia will receive $1,838,646.90 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in federal funding for distribution repairs as a result of damages from Tropical Storm Michael.

DES MOINES, Iowa – These are the last few days that FEMA will take registrations from survivors of the March 12 to June 15 storms and floods to determine eligibility for federal disaster assistance. The cutoff date is Monday, July 1.

Here are some tips on how to save some of your family treasures:

PIERRE, S.D. – Farmers and ranchers, employees and self-employed individuals in 16 counties and reservations across South Dakota who are unable to work as a result of the severe winter storms and flooding from mid-March to late April may be eligible for disaster unemployment. Funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the U.S. Department of Labor, Disaster Unemployment Assistance is administered locally.

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahomans affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between May 7 and June 9 are advised to get proper permits when rebuilding their damaged property.

Every part of a building — from roofs, walls and siding to plumbing, septic systems and heating/air conditioning systems — may require a permit before rebuilding. A permit may also be needed for demolition.

DURHAM, N.C. – FEMA and the state of North Carolina are announcing $3 million to reimburse New Hanover County for debris cleanup activities following Hurricane Florence.

FEMA has already approved more than $10.5 million for New Hanover County Hurricane Florence-related expenses. This brings the total to $13.5 million.

Disaster generated debris posed a threat to public health, safety, natural resources and tourism. Funds for this project will reimburse the county for contracted debris monitoring services.
