WASHINGTON — FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of  Arkansas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes on March 28, 2020.

Federal funding also is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes in Craighead County.

WASHINGTON -- The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continued today, as the first of two PPE shipments arrived in Maryland, for further distribution to more than 15,000 nursing homes across the country.

Meanwhile, an alternate care facility is closer to being stood up in Roseville, Minnesota.

As of May 6, Project Airbridge has completed 122 flights with an additional 23 scheduled or in transit.  Three flights landed Wednesday, one each in Chicago, New York City and San Francisco. Two flights are scheduled to land today in Los Angeles.

Understanding Your FEMA Letter

NASHVILLE – Tennessee residents who applied for assistance from FEMA after sustaining damage in the April 12-13 tornadoes and storms will receive a letter from FEMA in the mail or via email.

The letter will explain the application status and how to respond. It is important to read the letter carefully as it will include the amount of any assistance FEMA may provide and information on the appropriate use of disaster assistance funds.

FEMA Authorizes Federal Funds to Help Battle Florida’s Mussett Bayou Fire

ATLANTA – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has authorized federal funds to reimburse costs to Florida to fight the Mussett Bayou Fire located in Walton County.

This authorization makes FEMA grant funding available to reimburse 75 percent of the eligible firefighting costs for managing, mitigating and controlling the fires. Eligible costs can include labor, equipment and supplies used for fighting the fire and costs for emergency work such as evacuations and sheltering, police barricading and traffic control.

Fact Sheet: How to Appeal FEMA’s Decision on Eligibility

Applicants for FEMA assistance are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Not everyone who applies will necessarily qualify for aid and amounts vary based on individual and/or household needs.

The amount and type of housing assistance you receive might be different from assistance your neighbor receives, even though the damage appears to be similar. For example, one homeowner might have more extensive insurance coverage than the homeowner next door, which could result in a different amount of FEMA assistance received.

FEMA Obligates Nearly $89 Million to Rebuild the Island’s Hospitals

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – To date, FEMA has obligated nearly $89 million to repair and rebuild hospitals and health centers across the island. Over half of these funds are for permanent work for 258 facilities that will benefit the communities and residents they serve.
