Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers are now open in Cheatham and Dickson counties to assist Tennesseans who experienced damage or loss from the April 2-24 severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding.

Homeowners and renters in Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Dyer, Hardeman, McNairy, Montgomery, Obion and Wilson counties can apply for FEMA assistance at a recovery center. FEMA representatives will help with applications for federal assistance and provide information about other disaster recovery resources.  The deadline to apply for assistance is Aug. 19.

FEMA financial assistance may include money for basic home repairs or other uninsured, disaster-related needs, such as childcare, vehicle, medical needs, funeral expenses or the replacement of personal property.

In addition to FEMA personnel, representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and state agencies will be available to assist survivors.

It is not necessary to go to a center to apply for FEMA assistance. Apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App for mobile devices or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Two Weeks Left to Apply for Disaster Assistance for South Texas Severe Storms and Flooding

AUSTIN, Texas – South Texas residents who have been affected by the March severe storms and flooding have two weeks left to apply for disaster assistance.

Homeowners and renters in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy counties who were displaced or have property damage from the March 26-28 storms have until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, to apply for FEMA Assistance. 

To date, more than $70.5 million in state and federal assistance has been approved for South Texas survivors. This includes: $39.2 million for Housing Assistance and $31.3 million for Other Needs Assistance.

There are many types of assistance available for survivors with uninsured losses. Assistance may include money for rent, home repair or replacement, vehicle damage, medical expenses, moving and storage, and temporary housing.

While FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments, it may be able to help where insurance did not. File your insurance claim first, then apply for FEMA Assistance.

There are several ways to apply or check the status of your application:

Two Weeks Left to Apply for Federal Assistance for April Storms

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Time is running out. Only two weeks are left for homeowners, renters and businesses to apply for federal disaster assistance if you had damage or losses in the April 2-22 severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in Arkansas.

You may qualify for federal assistance if you are a resident of Clark, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Desha, Fulton, Greene, Hot Spring, Jackson, Miller, Ouachita, Pulaski, Randolph, St. Francis, Saline, Sharp or White County.

Disaster survivors are encouraged to file insurance claims for damage or losses to their primary homes, personal property and vehicles before applying for FEMA assistance. FEMA grants do not have to be repaid and FEMA assistance is not taxable and will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid or other federal benefits.

FEMA assistance may include rental assistance, lodging expenses reimbursement, home repair assistance, and home replacement assistance. The Individual Assistance program is designed to help you with basic home repair costs and temporary housing if you are unable to live in your home while you look for a long-term or permanent housing solution. 

You may qualify for FEMA disaster assistance even if you have insurance. However, you will need to file a claim with your insurance carrier and submit the insurance settlement or denial letter to FEMA. By law, FEMA cannot pay for losses covered by your insurance.

Low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are also available to Arkansas residents, businesses of all sizes and nonprofit organizations that are recovering from the April storms. OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma residents who have been affected by the March wildfires and straight-line winds have 14 days left to apply for FEMA assistance.

Homeowners and renters in Cleveland, Creek, Lincoln, Logan, Oklahoma, Pawnee, and Payne counties who were displaced or have property damage from the March 14-21 wildfires and Straight-line winds have until Tuesday, July 22, to submit an application for FEMA assistance. After the deadline, survivors can still upload information and submit paperwork to their FEMA account. 

There are many types of assistance available for survivors who need help covering costs for things like rental expenses, home repairs, vehicle damage, medical expenses, moving and storage, and reimbursement for temporary housing.

FEMA Authorizes Funds to Fight Nenana Ridge Complex in Alaska

BOTHELL, Wash. -  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Nenana Ridge Complex burning in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area and Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska. 

The state of Alaska’s request for a declaration under FEMA’s Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) program was approved by FEMA Region 10 Acting Administrator Vincent J. Maykovich on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 10:11 p.m. PT. He determined that the Nenana Ridge Complex threatened to cause such destruction as would constitute a major disaster. This is the third FMAG declaration in 2025 to help fight Alaska wildfires. 

At the time of the state’s request, the wildfires threatened homes near the communities of Nenana and Fairbanks. The fires also threatened communication towers, watershed, fishing streams, spawning sites, wildlife, environmental and cultural resources, commercial sites, and parts of the George Parks Highway, the Alaska Railroad, and the Alaska Energy Authority’s Alaska Intertie transmission line. 

FMAGs make funding available to pay up to 75 percent of a state’s eligible firefighting costs for fires that threaten to become major disasters. Eligible items can include expenses for field camps, equipment use, materials, supplies and mobilization and demobilization activities attributed to fighting the fires. These grants do not provide assistance to individual home or business owners and do not cover other infrastructure damage caused by the fires.

FEMA to Evaluate Readiness of the Commonwealth of Virginia

PHILADELPHIA— The Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will evaluate a Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise at the Surry Power Station. The exercise will occur on July 22, 2025 to assess the ability of the Commonwealth of Virginia to respond to an emergency at the nuclear facility. 

“These drills are held every other year to evaluate government’s ability to protect public health and safety,” said Lilian Hutchinson, Acting Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 3. “We will assess state and local government emergency response capabilities within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone within the Commonwealth of Virginia.” 

Within 90 days, FEMA will send its evaluation to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for use in licensing decisions. The final report will be available to the public approximately 120 days after the exercise. 

FEMA will present preliminary findings of the exercise during a public meeting at 4:30pm on July 24, 2025. Planned speakers include representatives from FEMA and the NRC. The meeting will take place in-person at:

FEMA created the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Program to (1) ensure the health and safety of citizens living around commercial nuclear power plants would be adequately protected in the event of a nuclear power plant accident and (2) inform and educate the public about radiological emergency preparedness.

REP Program responsibilities cover only “offsite” activities, that is, state and local government emergency planning and preparedness activities that take place beyond the nuclear power plant boundaries. Onsite activities continue to be the responsibility of the NRC.

Kerr County Texans Affected by Severe Storms and Flooding July 2 and Continuing Can Apply for Possible FEMA Assistance

AUSTIN – FEMA is supporting state and local recovery efforts for Texas homeowners and renters in Kerr County who sustained damage from the severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding that occurred July 2, 2025, and continuing.

Financial assistance is available to eligible homeowners and renters in Kerr County. FEMA may be able to help with serious needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair costs, personal property loss or other disaster-caused needs.

Survivors with homeowners, renters’ or flood insurance should file a claim first. By law, FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance. If your policy does not cover all your damage expenses, you may then be eligible for federal assistance.

Public Assistance federal funding is also available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations. This assistance is available on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding in Kerr County.

President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Texas

WASHINGTON -- FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding from July 2, 2025, and continuing. 

The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Kerr County. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals recover from the effects of the disaster. 

Federal funding is also available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding in Kerr County.  

Benjamin Abbott has been named the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas. Additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.

Disaster Recovery Center Relocated in Butler County

FRANKFORT, Ky. –The Disaster Recovery Center has been relocated in Butler County to offer in-person support to Kentucky survivors who experienced loss as the result of the April severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides. The new Disaster Recovery Center in Butler County is located at:

Disaster Recovery Centers are one-stop shops where you can get information and advice on available assistance from state, federal and community organizations. You can get help to apply for FEMA assistance, learn the status of your FEMA application, understand the letters you get from FEMA and get referrals to agencies that may offer other assistance. The U.S. Small Business Administration representatives and resources from the Commonwealth are also available at the Disaster Recovery Centers to assist you.

FEMA is encouraging Kentuckians affected by the April storms to apply for federal disaster assistance as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is July 25.

Disaster Recovery Centers and SBA Centers in South Texas Closed for Fourth of July Holiday

AUSTIN, Texas – FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) and Business Recovery Centers (BRCs) opened in South Texas communities impacted by severe storms and flooding that occurred March 26-28, 2025, will temporarily close this week.

DRCs will be closed on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, for the Fourth of July Holiday. SBA BRCs will be closed Friday, July 4.

In coordination with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), FEMA and SBA have been staffing DRCs to offer face-to-face help to residents of the four South Texas counties affected by the March weather event. 

Additionally, SBA representatives, in partnership with FEMA and TDEM, are providing one-on-one assistance to disaster loan applicants at SBA’s BRCs throughout the affected areas.

Homeowners and renters in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy counties may be eligible for FEMA assistance for losses not covered by insurance.

FEMA and SBA support state-led recovery efforts at the DRCs. Staff can help survivors apply for federal assistance. They can also identify potential needs and connect survivors with local, state and federal agencies, as well as nonprofits and community groups.

Disaster Recovery Center Opening in Clayton

A Disaster Recovery Center with FEMA Individual Assistance staff is opening  Tuesday, July 1 in Clayton to help people affected by the March 14-15 or May 16 disasters.

At all locations, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration will help impacted residents with their disaster assistance applications, answer questions, and upload required documents.

If you are unable to apply online or by phone, someone at the Disaster Recovery Center can assist you. 

The FEMA application deadline for the March 14-15 disaster is July 22, 2025. 

The FEMA application deadline for the May 16 disaster is August 11, 2025. 

If your home or personal property sustained damage not covered by insurance, FEMA may be able to provide money to help you pay for home repairs, a temporary place to live, and replace essential personal property that was destroyed.

March Storm Survivors Have Two Weeks to Apply for FEMA Assistance

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Homeowners and renters, including students, who had uninsured damage or losses from the March outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes have until Monday, July 14, to apply for FEMA disaster assistance.

You may apply for assistance if you live in Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp or Stone County and had damage in the March 14-15 storms. Students do not need to be permanent residents to be eligible for FEMA assistance, but the property damage or loss must have occurred in those counties.

FEMA has many types of assistance available. FEMA may be able to help with basic home repair costs, personal property loss, and temporary housing while you are unable to live in your home or residence hall. Repair or replacement assistance may be available for a primary vehicle, a computer damaged in the disaster, or books and other items required for school.

For those self-employed, assistance may also be available for tools and other job-related equipment.

Additional funding may be available to repair or replace privately owned access routes to your home such as driveways, roads or bridges; and for other disaster-caused expenses such as medical and dental needs, childcare, and moving and storage.

FEMA grants are not taxable, do not have to be repaid, and will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid or other federal benefits.

You are encouraged to apply for assistance before the Monday, July 14, deadline. Here are the ways to apply:

Go to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App for mobile devices or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Lines are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT seven days a week and specialists speak many languages. If you had damage in the April 2-22 storms, tornadoes and flooding, the deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is Tuesday, July 22. Residents ofClark, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Desha, Fulton, Greene, Hot Spring, Jackson, Miller, Ouachita, Pulaski, Randolph, St. Francis, Saline, Sharp and White counties may apply.

Disaster Recovery Centers in Laurel, Pulaski Counties Update Operational Schedule to Mondays-Saturdays

FRANKFORT, Ky. –The Disaster Recovery Centers in Laurel and Pulaski counties are scheduled to close Sundays beginning June 29 and resume operations Mondays. New working hours are Monday through Saturday,

Disaster Recovery Centers in Russell, Trigg Counties to Close Permanently; Help is Still Available

FRANKFORT, Ky. –The Disaster Recovery Centers in Russell and Trigg counties are scheduled to close permanently this weekend. However, Kentucky survivors who experienced loss as the result of the tornadoes of May 16-17 can still apply for FEMA assistance. 

The Disaster Recovery Center in Russell County will close permanently Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. The center in Trigg County will close permanently Saturday, June 28. Both centers will be open during their regular working hours, 
9 a.m. To 7 p.m., until their final closure.
