FEMA Approves $131 Million for the Replacement of Three Schools in West Virginia

The State of West Virginia will receive $131,671,998.45 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the replacement of Richwood Middle School, Richwood High School, and Summersville Middle School damaged as a result of FEMA-DR-4273-WV (Severe Storms, flooding, Landslides and Mudslides).

Disaster Unemployment Insurance Available for Earthquake Survivors

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – Individuals who lost their jobs because of the earthquakes in southwest Puerto Rico and live or work in any of the 16 municipalities FEMA approved for assistance may be eligible to receive unemployment funds.

The earthquakes that began Dec. 28, 2019, affected the municipalities of Adjuntas, Cabo Rojo, Corozal, Guánica, Guayanilla, Jayuya, Lajas, Lares, Maricao, Peñuelas, Ponce, San Germán, San Sebastián, Utuado, Villalba and Yauco.

What to Expect After Applying for FEMA Assistance

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – If you were affected by the recent series of earthquakes, you may be eligible for assistance from FEMA.

FEMA’s Individual Assistance program may provide some financial assistance for disaster-related needs such as child care, medical or dental care, or funeral expenses as well as grants for damaged or uninhabitable housing. FEMA also provides referrals to other agencies that may be able to help.

Aftershocks can weaken structures and may occur in the first hours, days, weeks or even months after an earthquake. If this happens Drop, Cover and Hold On. Cover your head and neck with your arms or a pillow until the shaking stops.

Get FEMA Help at Disaster Recovery Centers in Six Municipalities

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – Disaster recovery centers that are jointly run by the Government of Puerto Rico and FEMA are open in Guánica, Guayanilla, Peñuelas, Ponce, Utuado and Yauco to assist survivors of the earthquakes that began Dec. 28.

The centers have regular hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

FEMA and COR3 Obligate an Additional $50.5 Million for Recovery Work in Puerto Rico

Jackson County approved for additional $2.5 million for hurricane recovery

PANAMA CITY, Fla. FEMA has approved an additional $2,475,836 for the state of Florida to reimburse Jackson County for the cost of emergency protective measures taken after Hurricane Michael.

 

This grant reimburses the county for response and recovery efforts, such as search and rescue, evacuation and sheltering, and installing emergency road signs within the county following the October 2018 storm.

FEMA approves $1 million for Tallahassee Community College building repairs

PANAMA CITY, Fla. FEMA has approved more than $1 million for the state of Florida to reimburse Tallahassee Community College for the cost of building repairs.

 

This grant reimburses the school for repairs to the Florida Public Safety Institute’s roof that was damaged by high winds from Hurricane Michael.

Deadline to Register for Federal Disaster Assistance Approaching

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The deadline for residents with damage from the September severe storms, tornadoes and flooding to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency is Friday, January 31, 2020.

Since the Nov. 18 declaration, more than $12.2 million in federal disaster assistance has been provided to eligible applicants in 12 counties and two reservations, including more than $4.6 million in FEMA grant funding and over $7.6 million in SBA disaster loans.
