With a global shortage, the COVID-19 National Preservation Strategy sought to improve the availability of PPE that would preserve the health of first responders, health care providers and patients. Salem, Oregon – Residents of Umatilla County and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation who sustained damage or loss as a result of the February 5 -9 Umatilla River flooding event have until June 2, 2020, to register for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  By law, FEMA assistance cannot duplicate the assistance received from insurance companies; however, assistance may be received for uninsured or underinsured items.

NASHVILLE – After you apply for disaster assistance from FEMA, you may be referred to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). If you receive an SBA disaster loan application, you should fill it out and return it.

If your application is approved, you are not obligated to accept an SBA loan, but failure to return the application may disqualify you from other possible FEMA assistance, such as disaster-related car repairs, essential household items and other expenses.

CANTON, Miss. – If you are a survivor  of the April 12 tornado and strong storms in Mississippi’s Covington, Jefferson Davis and Jones counties who has applied for FEMA disaster assistance, you will receive a letter from FEMA in the mail or via email explaining the status of your application for assistance.

Be sure to read the letter from FEMA carefully as it will tell you the amount of any assistance FEMA has awarded to you. The letter or email also will contain information on the appropriate use of the disaster assistance funds granted to you.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued several Emergency Use Authorizations for vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilizer systems to be used to decontaminate N95 respirators.

WASHINGTON — Under the direction of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, FEMA will coordinate two shipments totaling a 14-day supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to more than 15,400 Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing homes across the Nation, including all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.

By the beginning of July, each facility will receive two, separate packages containing a seven-day supply of eye protection, surgical masks, gowns, and gloves. Each package will be individualized for each nursing home based upon their level of staffing.

KANSAS CITY – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated nearly $23 million to the State of Kansas to help reimburse eligible expenses the state has incurred as a result of its response to COVID-19.

The grant funds, awarded by FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Grant Program, were made available Wednesday, April 29 and are authorized under a major disaster declaration approved by President Trump on March 29 for the entire state. There is no need for any additional action from the State regarding this Declaration and the Federal assistance associated with it.

Canton, Miss. – Disaster survivors who are renters in Covington, Jefferson Davis and Jones counties and who sustained damage as a result of the severe storms, tornados, straight-line winds, and flooding that struck on April 12, 2020 should apply now for disaster assistance from FEMA.

FEMA disaster grants for qualified homeowners and renters may help pay for basic repairs to make a home habitable, provide eligible homeowners and renters with temporary rental assistance as well as provide assistance for disaster-related needs not covered by insurance or other sources.

FEMA currently is calling some survivors in Davidson, Putnam and Wilson counties to conduct a remote house inspection, via telephone, in order to be able to continue processing their application for assistance after the March 3 tornadoes. FEMA also may contact survivors to obtain more information for their application.
