FEMA Grants $1.1 Million to Nevada for PPE
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved $1.1 million to reimburse the State of Nevada for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of state, county, and tribal personnel, healthcare facility workers, and first responders.
Funds covered the acquisition of more than two million pieces of PPE, including N95 and surgical masks, gloves, face shields, and hand sanitizer.
FEMA Approves Funds to Repair Town Squares in Puerto Rico
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – “Town squares are historic places and landmarks of the Puerto Rican culture. Being part of the repair of these spaces is what drives us to continue with our recovery efforts.” These words by the Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Alex Amparo, describe FEMA’s funding obligation of about $579,000 for repairs to public town squares in 13 municipalities throughout the island.
Disaster Recovery Centers Closed Friday for Fourth of July Holiday
• All Disaster Recovery Centers in Puerto Rico will be closed Friday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.
• Centers will reopen Monday, July 6.
• Disaster Recovery Centers are open, with safety restrictions in place, in Ciales, Guánica, Guayanilla and Ponce. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
• Disaster Recovery Centers are operating under COVID safety precautions. Masks are required, hand sanitizer is provided, and social distancing is maintained.

Salem, Oregon – Residents of Umatilla County and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation affected by the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides during February 5-9, 2020, are eligible to receive crisis counseling.
Community-based outreach and educational services can assist in recovering from the psychological effects of disasters. Crisis counseling is not always needed for natural disasters but has value in this instance.
Recheck the Damage to Your Home Before FEMA Registration Ends July 2
PONCE, Puerto Rico – With seismic activity centered along Puerto Rico’s southern coast for the past six months, time is running out for people who may qualify for FEMA disaster assistance, since the deadline is July 2.
